Atlantic yacht delivery and ocean passages
Atlantic work is a different standard of preparation to coastal delivery. Passages are long, the vessel is self-sufficient and the decision points happen days from shelter.
We cover the eastern Atlantic corridors between northern Europe, Iberia and the Atlantic islands, and ocean crossings west and back east.
Atlantic corridors we operate
Sea areas and corridors covered, with routing chosen on the season and the vessel.
Biscay
The Brittany and Channel exits south to Galicia.
Iberian coast
Galicia, Portugal and the Gibraltar approaches.
Atlantic islands
Madeira, the Canaries and the Azores as staging and crew change points.
Trade wind route west
The classic southern route towards the Caribbean.
Northern return route
The eastbound passage via the Azores towards Europe.
Typical Atlantic delivery routes
Caribbean or USA to Europe
The eastbound return, generally routed via the Azores.
Atlantic operating considerations
Season decides the route
Ocean routing follows the season, not the calendar convenience of the owner. Departure timing is set by the pattern for that corridor and we say so plainly if the requested date does not work.
Self-sufficiency
Spares, redundancy, water, fuel and food for the passage plus margin are planned before departure. Offshore there is no resupply.
Watch systems and crew numbers
Ocean legs are crewed for a sustainable watch rotation rather than the minimum required to move the boat.
Communications and reporting
Satellite tracking and regular position and situation reports continue across the whole passage, so the owner is not waiting on landfall for news.
Preparation
Rig, steering, engine, ground tackle and heavy weather gear are checked and recorded before the vessel leaves, with the findings shared rather than sat on.
How Yacht.Delivery manages the passage
Ocean passages carry the heaviest preparation load, and that is where most of the work happens before departure.
Professional crews
Passages are run by qualified delivery skippers and crew, with certification supplied before departure.
24/7 operations support
An operations team stands behind the crew for routing, technical and logistics decisions at any hour.
HELM live tracking
Every delivery runs on HELM with live position, daily reports and the full ship's log visible to you.
Transparent expenses
Costs are logged against the delivery as they happen and reconciled at handover. No surprises.
Documentation and handover
Condition report, photographic record and ship's log at departure and arrival. Nothing is verbal.

Anonymised operational case study: offshore routing clear of the Bay of Biscay shelf, a weather-driven deviation to coastal Portugal, and a structured owner handover.
