Yacht delivery in the Mediterranean
The Mediterranean is the busiest delivery water we work in. Most movements are seasonal repositioning between the western basin and the eastern islands, yard transfers before and after refit, and handovers running out of the main brokerage and show ports.
A full Gibraltar to Aegean transit is a long passage broken into legs, not a single hop. We plan it around crew changes at ports with real airport access, fuel availability and the wind patterns of each sub-basin.
Where we operate in the Mediterranean
Service coverage across the basin. These are the coasts and corridors we deliver through, not permanent bases.
Western basin
Gibraltar, Costa del Sol, the Balearics, the Gulf of Lion and the French and Italian Rivieras.
Tyrrhenian and central
Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, the Strait of Messina and the Italian west coast.
Adriatic
The Italian east coast, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro and the Otranto approach.
Ionian and Aegean
Western Greece, the Corinth Canal, the Cyclades, the Dodecanese and the Turkish coast.
Central islands
Malta, the Strait of Sicily and the Tunisian channel as a routing corridor.
Typical Mediterranean delivery routes
Palma to the Riviera
Short repositioning between the Balearics and the French coast, frequently show or charter driven.
Mediterranean operating considerations
Wind is local, not basin wide
The Mistral in the Gulf of Lion, the Meltemi in the Aegean and the Bora in the Adriatic all behave differently. A single forecast for the Mediterranean is not a passage plan; we route each leg on its own sub-basin pattern.
Season shoulders
April to June and September to October generally give the most workable windows. Midsummer brings the strongest reinforced flow in the Aegean and Gulf of Lion, and berth availability tightens across the season.
Long legs, planned crew changes
Basin transits are split at ports with airport access so crew rotate without adding days alongside.
Motoring allowance
Light air is common. We plan on a 6 knot average, roughly 144 nautical miles a day, and budget fuel accordingly rather than assuming a sailing passage.
How Yacht.Delivery manages the passage
Every Mediterranean passage runs on the same process, whether it is a two day hop or a full basin transit.
Professional crews
Passages are run by qualified delivery skippers and crew, with certification supplied before departure.
24/7 operations support
An operations team stands behind the crew for routing, technical and logistics decisions at any hour.
HELM live tracking
Every delivery runs on HELM with live position, daily reports and the full ship's log visible to you.
Transparent expenses
Costs are logged against the delivery as they happen and reconciled at handover. No surprises.
Documentation and handover
Condition report, photographic record and ship's log at departure and arrival. Nothing is verbal.
