Ionian and Aegean
Yacht delivery in Greece
Greek deliveries are island passages. Two very different waters sit either side of the Peloponnese, and the routing choice between them shapes the whole plan.
Most movements we see are charter fleet positioning, owner transfers between the Ionian and the Aegean, and arrivals or departures linking Greece with Italy, Croatia and the Turkish coast.
Where we operate in Greece
Coverage across the Greek coastline and island groups as delivery water.
Ionian
Corfu, Preveza, Lefkas, Kefalonia and Zakynthos, plus the Patras approach.
Saronic and Attica
The Athens area, Piraeus approaches, Aegina and the Epidaurus coast.
Cyclades
Central Aegean island hopping with exposed inter-island channels.
Dodecanese
Rhodes, Kos and the eastern chain along the Turkish coast.
Northern Aegean
Sporades, Chalkidiki and the Thessaloniki approaches.
Crete
Southern Aegean routing and the Cretan Sea crossing.
Typical Greek delivery routes
Corfu to Athens
Ionian to Saronic, usually via the Corinth Canal or around the Peloponnese depending on air draught and conditions.
Athens to the Dodecanese
Cyclades transit east, planned around the summer northerly flow.
Greek operating considerations
The Meltemi
The summer northerly dominates Aegean planning from roughly June to September. It reinforces through the afternoon and funnels hard between islands. Passages east and south with it are fast; north and west against it can mean waiting for a window.
Ionian versus Aegean
The Ionian is generally lighter and more sheltered, with afternoon sea breeze. The Aegean is open water with long fetch. Two Greek passages of the same distance are rarely the same job.
Corinth Canal or the Peloponnese
The canal saves substantial distance between the Ionian and Saronic when it is open and the vessel fits. The Cape Maleas route around the south is the alternative and needs its own weather window.
Mobilisation
Crew travel to Greece is straightforward through the main island and mainland airports, which is why we break longer Greek deliveries at ports with reliable air links.
How Yacht.Delivery manages the passage
Greek island passages are weather routed leg by leg rather than committed to end to end.
Professional crews
Passages are run by qualified delivery skippers and crew, with certification supplied before departure.
24/7 operations support
An operations team stands behind the crew for routing, technical and logistics decisions at any hour.
HELM live tracking
Every delivery runs on HELM with live position, daily reports and the full ship's log visible to you.
Transparent expenses
Costs are logged against the delivery as they happen and reconciled at handover. No surprises.
Documentation and handover
Condition report, photographic record and ship's log at departure and arrival. Nothing is verbal.
