Two coasts
Yacht delivery in Italy
Italy is a long country with two separate delivery coasts and two large islands. A movement from the Adriatic to the Tyrrhenian is an offshore passage around the south, not a coastal transfer.
Much of the work is yard related: new build and refit transfers, plus seasonal repositioning between the Riviera, Sardinia, Sicily and the Adriatic marinas.
Where we operate in Italy
Coverage of the Italian coastline, islands and the corridors between them.
Ligurian coast
The Italian Riviera, La Spezia, Viareggio and the yard belt north of Livorno.
Tyrrhenian
Rome and Naples approaches, the Pontine and Aeolian islands.
Sardinia and Corsica
Costa Smeralda, the Bonifacio Strait and the western island route.
Sicily and the south
Palermo, the Messina Strait, Siracusa and the Malta channel.
Adriatic coast
Venice, Ravenna, Ancona, Brindisi and the Otranto approach.
Typical Italian delivery routes
Yard transfers on the Ligurian coast
Short, high-care passages in and out of refit and new build.
ViewLigurian coast to Sardinia or Sicily
Offshore island legs with a straightforward weather window.
Adriatic to Tyrrhenian
Around the heel and through the Messina Strait, planned as an offshore passage.
Italian operating considerations
Messina Strait
Tidal stream, traffic and local wind acceleration make the Strait a timed transit rather than an incidental waypoint on any north-south passage.
Two coasts, one plan
Adriatic and Tyrrhenian weather patterns are distinct. A delivery crossing between them needs windows for both, plus the southern rounding in between.
Yard traffic and access
New build and refit movements often run on yard dates rather than ideal weather dates, so we build float into the plan and hold rather than push a marginal forecast.
Season
Spring and autumn shoulders are the most workable. Midsummer brings light air in the Tyrrhenian and berth pressure everywhere on the Riviera.
How Yacht.Delivery manages the passage
Italian deliveries often move between yards and owners, so documentation and condition recording matter as much as the passage itself.
Professional crews
Passages are run by qualified delivery skippers and crew, with certification supplied before departure.
24/7 operations support
An operations team stands behind the crew for routing, technical and logistics decisions at any hour.
HELM live tracking
Every delivery runs on HELM with live position, daily reports and the full ship's log visible to you.
Transparent expenses
Costs are logged against the delivery as they happen and reconciled at handover. No surprises.
Documentation and handover
Condition report, photographic record and ship's log at departure and arrival. Nothing is verbal.
