Yacht delivery in the Caribbean

Caribbean delivery work splits into two kinds of job: inter-island passages within the chain, and the ocean legs that bring yachts in and take them out again.

Seasonal repositioning drives most of it, with arrivals through the winter months and departures north or east as the season closes.

Where we operate in the Caribbean

Service coverage through the island chain and the ocean corridors either side of it.

Leeward Islands

Antigua, St Martin, St Barths and the northern chain.

Windward Islands

St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Grenada.

Virgin Islands

The BVI and USVI cruising and charter grounds.

Western Caribbean

Passages towards the Bahamas and the Florida approaches.

Ocean corridors

Trade wind arrivals from the east and the northern route out.

Typical Caribbean delivery routes

Caribbean to Europe

The eastbound return, usually routed via the Azores.

Inter-island passages

Movements within the chain between charter bases, yards and handover points.

Caribbean operating considerations

Season timing

Movements are planned around the recognised seasonal pattern for the region. We plan conservatively and we will not commit to a date that puts a vessel in the wrong place at the wrong time of year.

Trade wind sailing

The prevailing easterly makes westbound and downwind legs quick, and northbound or eastbound legs work against wind and sea. Chafe management and sail handling plans matter on long downwind runs.

Island channels

Inter-island passages cross open channels with accelerated wind and swell between the sheltered lees, so a short hop is still an offshore leg.

Mobilisation and logistics

Crew travel and parts availability need lead time. We plan joining points around reliable air links and confirm what needs to travel with the crew.

How Yacht.Delivery manages the passage

Caribbean jobs combine short island legs and long ocean legs, and both are run to the same offshore standard.

Professional crews

Passages are run by qualified delivery skippers and crew, with certification supplied before departure.

24/7 operations support

An operations team stands behind the crew for routing, technical and logistics decisions at any hour.

HELM live tracking

Every delivery runs on HELM with live position, daily reports and the full ship's log visible to you.

Transparent expenses

Costs are logged against the delivery as they happen and reconciled at handover. No surprises.

Documentation and handover

Condition report, photographic record and ship's log at departure and arrival. Nothing is verbal.
